Ocular Lavage Kits. This catheter is used for controlled irrigation of therapeutic solution on the surface of the eye. The kit consists of a lavage catheter, trocar, blunt-tipped needle, needle injection cap and scalpel. The trocar is used to draw the catheter through the eyelid. The catheter base plate is placed sub-palpebrally and the catheter secured above the exit hole. The catheter was designed to remain in place for two to three weeks; any longer than that could result in infection, dislodgment or granuloma formation. If longer therapy is needed, a new lavage catheter should be placed far enough away from the first site to avoid creating conjunctival hole that is too large, which could result in pull though of the foot plate. Silicone. Sterile. Available in; OLK590 5Fr or OLK890 8Fr.
